Terms of Service

1. Acceptance of Terms

By creating an account, accessing, or using CachePilot ("the Service"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you are using the Service on behalf of an organization, you represent that you have authority to bind that organization to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

2. Description of Service

CachePilot is a caching proxy that sits between your application and AI API providers (such as OpenAI, Anthropic, and OpenRouter). It intercepts API requests, identifies duplicate or near-duplicate calls, and returns cached responses to reduce your API costs. The Service is delivered as a Cloudflare Worker and is accessed via an API endpoint or compatible SDK configuration.

CachePilot acts as an intermediary — it does not generate, produce, or independently provide AI model responses. All model responses originate from the underlying AI provider.

3. Account Registration

To use certain features of the Service, you must create an account by providing a valid email address and password. You agree to:

• Provide accurate, current, and complete information during registration.
• Maintain the security of your password and API keys.
• Promptly update your account information if it changes.
• Accept responsibility for all activity that occurs under your account.

You must be at least 18 years of age (or the age of majority in your jurisdiction) to create an account.

4. API Usage & Rate Limits

You may use the Service in accordance with these Terms and any applicable usage limits displayed in your dashboard. CachePilot is designed for fair, reasonable use consistent with normal application workloads.

We reserve the right to impose rate limits, throttle requests, or restrict access if we detect usage that is abusive, harmful to infrastructure, or significantly exceeds reasonable thresholds. Examples of prohibited use include but are not limited to:

• Automated abuse or credential stuffing.
• Deliberately overloading the Service with non-production traffic.
• Circumventing rate limits or security measures.
• Reselling or redistributing the Service without authorization.

We will make reasonable efforts to notify you before imposing limits, but may act without notice in urgent cases.

5. Pricing & Payment

CachePilot charges a fee of 20% of calculated savings — the difference between what you would have paid the AI provider without caching and what you actually paid. If the Service saves you $0, you pay $0.

• First $20 of savings are free. You are not charged until cumulative savings exceed $20.
• Billing is processed through Paystack. By providing payment information, you agree to Paystack's terms of service.
• All charges are usage-based. There are no subscriptions, minimums, or hidden fees.
• Usage-based charges are non-refundable. You are charged only for savings actually achieved.
• We reserve the right to update pricing with 30 days' notice via email.

Failure to maintain a valid payment method may result in suspension of the Service after a reasonable grace period.

6. Data & Privacy

CachePilot operates with a strict data-minimization approach. We do not store prompt content, API response content, conversation data, or file contents. We store only SHA-256 hashes of request data (used as cache keys) and lightweight usage metadata necessary for billing and analytics.

7. Provider API Keys

When you route requests through CachePilot, your AI provider API key is transmitted in the request so that CachePilot can forward the request to the provider on your behalf. CachePilot:

• Passes your provider key through to the AI provider to fulfill the request.
• Does not store provider API keys in persistent storage.
• Does not log provider API keys.
• Processes keys ephemerally in memory only for the duration of the request.

You retain full control of your provider API keys at all times. We recommend rotating your keys periodically as a security best practice.

8. Limitation of Liability

CachePilot is a caching layer, not an AI provider. We are not responsible for:

• The accuracy, quality, or availability of AI model responses.
• Outages, downtime, or rate limits imposed by AI providers (OpenAI, Anthropic, OpenRouter, or others).
• Any decisions made, content generated, or actions taken based on AI model responses.
• Losses resulting from use of or reliance on the Service.

To the maximum extent permitted by law, CachePilot's total liability for any claims arising out of or related to these Terms or the Service shall not exceed the amount you paid us in the twelve (12) months preceding the claim. We shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages.

9. Termination

You may delete your account at any time from the dashboard or by contacting support@cachepilot.dev. Upon deletion, your account data and cached entries will be removed in accordance with our data retention policies.

We may suspend or terminate your access to the Service at our discretion if we reasonably believe you have violated these Terms, engaged in abusive behavior, or posed a risk to the Service or other users. We will provide notice before termination except in cases of severe abuse or legal obligation.

10. Changes to Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. When we make material changes, we will notify you by email at least 14 days before the changes take effect. Your continued use of the Service after the effective date constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.

If you do not agree to the updated Terms, you may terminate your account before the effective date without penalty.
